From numbers to the universe, and back to the very beginning of time: two books on the deepest questions in physics.
The third Dutch Cosmos Boekenprijs was awarded on 11 October at CREA, the cultural student centre of the University of Amsterdam.
The scholierenjury chose Van getal naar heelal by physicist Marcel Vonk, which shows how mathematics and physics cannot exist without each other. The vakjury chose Het ontstaan van de tijd by cosmologist Thomas Hertog, the story of his long collaboration with Stephen Hawking on the origin of the universe.
Each winner received a prize of €1,500.
